Looking for a little assistance/direction.

I have flat files that contain a header record, multiple detail records and a trailer record and sometimes more than one set of these. I need to create a record in a parent table from the header and trailer record information and then move all the detail records into a child table. I have specifications preset for importing the long detail records.

Any help on where to start would be appreciated.
