Default setup wizard vs publish tab

I am new to VB2005 and I have some questions about publishing the finished application. I have added a new project, setup wizard, to my curren project and I just noticed the publish tab in the program properties. Which way is the best, they appear to me that they provide different setup files, .msi vs just .exe. Also the publish tab has a check for updates which would be very nice if it works. Any guidence would be appreciated.
