I am pretty new to VB. I know you can use the local resource to embed files in your project and that this is for using the files on your forms. Is there a way to embed a file and then extract\copy it to the local system during execution?

Could you describe the step-by-step that the user would take, what they would se, etc., to do what you want?

Thanks for the response...sorry if I was too vague. The program I wrote is an update program. It collects some information, determines if files are up to date and updates them if they are not. Right now this is all done with the program and a zip file. I want to be able to put files into the executable and eliminate the zip file. I added the file that I needed by going into the resource manager and adding an existing file. I want to extract\copy this file from the executable to a directory on the hard drive. Is this possible? Is there a better way?

User Connects to a website
downloads file
self extracting zip creates a directory with all of the files
user clicks on an executable
program checks system and updates files that need to be updated
