Default how to allow sqlserver express to allow code?

Hi all,
I've got sample code from the pro vb book, which looks complete but sqlserver express gives a generic message that the database may not allow remote connections, which it is set up to do.

I've got windows authentication turned on, remote connections enabled, and sysadmin rights.

Thanks for any advice

Please give some implementation details. though this is a WROX site, your interaction here is with individuals around the world, not necessarily WROX employees or consultants.

Few of the people who would help you have this book. Even if we did, you haven't given any details about where in the book the stuff you are having trouble with is located.

Please presume we are smart but uninformed...
