Default from 7.1 to 8

i have some project of vesion 7.1, when i opened it on version 8, it performs 3 steps conversion.after conversion it shows errors.why?
should i install all kind of frmaework of visual studio from 1.0 to 3.0 or conversion is not possible from older to new

same problem happen when i convert vb6 project to vb8

It is really hard to say, not knowing what the description of the errors are.
What does the machine explain is the difficulty? (File not found? Memory cannot be read? Syntax error? All very differnt in nature, and in solution.)
