Default Label BackStyle = Transparent

Can it really be true that though labels could have a backstyle that was transparent, .NET labels (in Windows.Forms) cannot? This seems impossible to me, but in the IDE and in Object Browser it seems to be the case...

Is there an alternate control that can be used as a label, but that can have a transparent back?

I don't know about another control acting like a label and having a transparent background, but what you could do is on the Form properties set the Transparency Key to a certain colour, could be an outrageous one that you would never use, and set the back colour for the label to be the transparency key.

But I thought that labels have transparent backs anyway?
