      Im a newbie in VC++. Im working on a problem that reads information(variable values) from a file. Im not able to figure as how the program should be. It will be a great help if you guys can help me in getting over this program. Is it possible to read the data from a file with .DAT extension, like s'd we convert it to other extension and process it or can we go ahead with any extension type. Thanks in advance.

I would suggest you to pick a good programming book and first get acquainted with file reading/writing concepts. Operations on files are performed more of less in the same fashion in every language so what language you use is not as important, if you have dealt with files in any language you will be able to do that in VC++ also.
