Visual C++ on parallel port

I really need everbodies help on this, at what normal rate(Hertz or MHz) can i program the parallel port to output data? and what can be the maximum rate I can achieve? how can I achieve that in visual c++? please everyone help me.. It is all about my thesis..and I'm running out of time. Thanks.
