Default username check

Hello Everyone , I'm constructing a microbloging site as my academic project, I need some help for that . I want to check whether the username is available or not asynchronously. Kindly help ke out .

Thank you for your help sir, I really appritiate it, but the actual problem is I have not used create user wizard. I'm maintaining and fetching records using databse tables... So can it be done ?

Yes, it can be done. Rather than calling methods on the Membership class, call your own code to see if the user exists.

Why are you not using Membership?
