HostingEnvironment initiated shutdown

Recompilation limit of 100 reached - HostingEnvironment initiated shutdown

The IIS was reset to get the site up again. In the event logs of the Kentico CMS, a warning with the following message was logged

Message: Recompilation limit of 100 reached HostingEnvironment initiated shutdown HostingEnvironment caused shutdown

Has anyone come across a similar issue? How can this be avoided in the future? Any suggestions will be appreciated.
