Default Visual studio.Net, IIS, and sql server

How do you setup your desktop computer to connect to windows 2000 server that has Visual studio.Net, IIS, and SQL server installed?

I have installed visual studio on the desktop computer, and IIS and SQL server onto the windows 2000 server.

The bit I am confused is configuring the virtual directory creation in Visual studio.net. When creating the New Project, I am not sure what to add to the location: http://localhost/.

When I click ok after typing the above I get a message cannot create or open the application because no web server was detected.
