i just got a data aquisition package from DATAQ. the signal processor feeds a varying voltages into the serial port of my machine.

what i was wondering was, how do i retrieve the actual voltage from the serial port? also the signal processor has 4 channels, is there a way to also determine what channel you want to read from?

You're probably going to have to refer to the device's manual for the details on what is readable from the serial port. Presumably, the serial data will contain the voltage readings and which channel they are coming from.
