Default Meeting a Problem about BegEcom chapter 3

Hi Cristian Darie
i have ordered the new edition. but i am still with the 1st edition now.
i am running the default.aspx in chapter 3 with web matrix and MSDE
and there is an Error Message: BC30002: Type 'Catalog' is not defined.
i have compiled the catalog.vb to catalog.dll and put it in a bin directory just under the project folder WroxJokeShop. Is it the right folder?
 what is it the problem?

 thanks again

Hi

By adding " imports WroxJokeShop " to the first line of Departmentslist.ascx.vb, i solved the problem.
i wonder why book code does not have that line.
Maybe it is the difference between web matrix and vs.net.

By the way- if this is the book I think it is (You didn't give the whole title) it is no longer a WROX book. If you need support you need to visit http://support.apress.com

Hey shxj99,

If you correctly follow the examples as shown in the book, you should get no errors. However, you need Visual Studio .NET (as mentioned in the book), or at least the standard edition of Visual Basic .NET.

Also, Hal is right - this book is no longer owned by Wrox, but by Apress. Feel free to contact me personally through my website at http://www.CristianDarie.ro for any further questions - I always try to reply to all emails I get.

Thanks for ordering my new book, I hope you'll enjoy reading it!

Cristian.

p.s. Hal, are you absolutely sure you aren't a Wiley employee?:)

Christian - 100% positive I am not a Wiley Employee.. However, I don't think I'd mind if I was. I'd love to be a full-time technical reviewer or something like that :)

Hal,

So far I didn't hear about any publisher that uses full-time tech reviewers, but this is the kind of job you can do in your spare time. And it's an easy job, too - all you have to do is to say as many bad things as possible about technical text some other guy (or sometimes girl, which makes things a bit more difficult) wrote :)

Anyway, good luck! I'm sure you'd have no problem "persuading" a publisher to give you the chance to try it -- most tech review guidelines suggest a number of comments per page, criterion that you would most certainly meet (give them a link to these forums and they'll see:)

Thanks again for the feedback you provided for my readers...

Christian,

From what I was told- Wiley does use full time Tech-Reviewers. I was a Tech Reviewer for Peer on one book.
