I think it would help if you a) specify for what book you downloaded the code, b) specify the version of Visual Studio .NET you're using and c) specify the version of VS.NET the book is using.

This sounds like you're trying to open a 2003 solution in VS.NET 2002 to me .....

Cheers,

I think you get the nerve of the problem
I downloaded code for Professional ASP.NET 1.1
My .NET details are
Microsoft Development Environment 2002 version 7.0.9466
Microsoft Framework 1.0 version 1.0.3705

now what should i do to open the code

This is not going to work. You can open a 2002 solution in 2003, and it will be upgraded automatically.
However, the other way around won't work.

What you *could* do, is create a new VS.NET 2002 solution and project, and then add the individual files from the download to your solution (you can drag them from a Windows Explorer to the VS.NET Solution Explorer).

No guarantee this will work though. Besides a lot of configuration settings, the project *might* be using 1.1-only features.

Good luck.
