Default Does "key" imply "unique"?

I have got an understanding of the unique/key XML schema constructs. Am I right in my understanding that when I use the key construct, that implicitly means I have uniqueness as well? I just have the additional capability to be able to reference what is unique with the key construct, right?

Kind Regards,

Yes: the only real difference between unique and key is that with key, the values are mandatory, whereas with unique, they are optional. (Not a difference you would guess from the names...)
