Default White-space preserved

Hi,

I am a brand new XHTML programmer and finally got to see my new web site on a different computer in a different state and I was not happy with what I saw. I appears that the command white-space:pre does not work in IE6 which was probably what I was logged onto back in Massachusetts.
How can I preserve the spacing between names etc. and why did the vertical list of family names wrap around on multiple lines instead of stacking one above the other as it does on my home computer.

Thanks

David

Sounds like a CSS question. Not XML, anyway.
