OK, this is a stupid question I'm sure, but it leaves me scratching my head. When I create an HTML document, I have to declare it as XML in the meta tags, because using the XML declaration causes IE problems. But when I pull up a raw XML file in IE, the XML declaration is handled fine. I assume this means that the HTML and XML are handled by different parsers inside IE, though I may be wrong.
But why in !@^!@#$%, does it make such a difference? Why do you have to use a meta tag hack to declare an HTML file is really XHTML?
