removing the reserved line for the xml tag

I am transforming an xml to a txt, and everytime I do that, the first line of the text file is blank which should not I want to happen. I think it is because of the reserve line for the xml declaration. is there a way I can remove this?

You posted the same question on another forum, I think, and showed your code which was explicitly outputting the newline character.

I only post questions here. Anyway, I already found the solution, I just immediately put the <xsl:template match="/"> in the end of the stylsheet tag.
