Default regular expression problem

i have strings that has special characters included in the regular expressions. i have to escape this characters so i could use the 'matches' method. can anyone tell me how to do it? or just give a reference so i could also learn it. thanks. :D

hey guys, i already found a soulution: escape '(' and ')'
replace(text(),[\(,\)],\\$0)
but it also escapes the comma (',' --> \,)
why does it happen? thanks.

Now i really got it, because the comma is included in the square bracket. thanks anyway..
