Default SOAP and XSL(T)

Hallo all,

I want to build an XSL file which uses a SOAP Response as an XML source data but I am a bit stucked how to get the XML Elements of a SOAP response. I mean it is easy to define an XML source (esp. in XMLSpy 2005) but if I have to use many SOAP response files at once how am I going to make it with document() function? I hope you could understand what I meant.

I've no idea what you mean :)
When you call a SOAP service you receive an XML document, normally this is held in memory as a DOM. Transforming with XSLT is now the same as any other transform.
Can you give a breakdown of your use case and show why you have many responses to process at once?

In factiva there are many services like retrieval, transform etc and They are bound to each other with their values. For example I receive a folder ID from a getFolder SOAP response and I use it in getArticleHeadline SOAP request. From getArticleHeadline response I receive the article ID and I use it in getArticle SOAP request. That's why I have to use many SOAP responses asynchronously and if I try to do it in JavaScript(AJAX) I get about 900 lines of code. It is a better solution for me to use the XSLT but I don't know how I can reference the SOAP responses in XSLT.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what your problem is. Perhaps that's because you haven't explained enough about your application architecture.

My Problem is that I designed an AJAX application to get the SOAP responses asynchronously and it works fine but for the flexibility I want to try to build an XSL which takes the SOAP responses as XML sources (also in async mode). How can I do it?

Sorry, but I find questions like that impossible to answer on a forum like this. I need a deep understanding of your requirements before I can start to propose architecture and design decisions. This is something that needs a day or two's consultancy assignment. (Which Saxonica, of course, is pleased to offer...)

If you give me per PM your email address can I send you my source code and the policy of Factiva? Then you can understand it better what I meant.
