Default how to detect that an xml has chnged

Hello everyone,
I'm working on a appilcation where an xml file is updated peridocally.I was wondering if there is any simple way(maybe with xsl) to detect wether this xml file has changed or not from the last update.
When the xml updates it doesnt mean that it content must have changed.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Tomi.
