About document element .. I am not sure what is a document element!!
Could you help me with the same!

Well I'm not sure why it fails to display. It does fail in IE7 on my machine as well. You're better off using a processor like Saxon to test and run code though. http://saxon.sourceforge.net

I am at work right now and cant install it on my machine. Will try accessing another machine where i can instal .. n check .. n get back to you!!

I tried downloading saxon but i dont know how do I use it.
can you tell me how do I use it or install it.

I tried with saxon but I am getting an error
  SXXP0003: Error reported by XML parser: The processing instruction target matc
hing
  "[xX][mM][lL]" is not allowed.

can you help me with this?

As the message says, it comes from the XML parser, and it's telling you that your XML source is not well formed: specifically, it apparently contains the characters <?xml somewhere other than the start of the document. Beyond that, without seeing the source document in error, I can't tell you any more.
