Opening XML with Excel

I am trying to open XML file with Excel, XML file contains XSL transformation file path, however, Excel gives me loading error (Says "NodeTest expected here ......... ./-->name<--(.)
When Using altova, xml file opens fine, and converts to HTML table with assigned XSL, but Excel and Explorer won't open.
Anyone had or know how to solve this issue?
