O.o Oh wow you are all over the place there.
Here is how I would group the books based upon similar syntax
#1
Perl
Python
#2
Javascript
#3
C Turbo
C by Example
#4
VB 5.0
First, since you are a beginner, you need to pick just 1 language for the time being because, IMHO, if you try to read all of those books from the outset all you are going to do is confuse yourself.
I don't know that I would spend time learning
VB 5.0, if you want to go down that route I would start with learning the most current version:
VB.NET.
Javascript is a great language and fairly easy to learn but you will need to couple it with HTML. (to be fair you don't HAVE to learn HTML, but normally HTML and
JS go hand in hand)
C I don't have any input on as I never learned it (I have never had a reason to program at such a low level)
PERL and Python are great languages that I can liken to VBScript (though all 3 have their distinct points) so either of those languages would be good choices as well.
What is your ultimate goal here? Wanting to be a "Programmer" is a very broad description of what you want to do. I, for example, am a Web Applications programmer I focus on developing n-teir applications, web services, etc. That isn't to say I don't know how to write Windows or Console applications, i just don't enjoy it as much as Web Programming.
hth.
