Default Beginning Red Hat Linux 9

I bought this book because I thought it had the most complete information on what I needed: setting up Linux, and connecting that machine to a home network where all the other machines run Windows. Then the disappointment set in. I have an older machine that will not boot from the CD. I have checked the internet, and it just won't do it. So, I need to create a generic boot floppy, boot from that and get the setup to run from the CD. There is NO information in the book on how to do it. I had to surf the internet to get info on creating a boot disk. I did it, and now get the prompt they show in the book. But, still can't get it to look at the CD to boot. Posted a message in the correct forum, got 12 reads and no answers. So far, I have no interest in ever buying another book from WROX. Incomplete info, and no help.
