How not to retrieve duplicate entries?

Hi all, here's my problem:

I have a very simple table that has PK, Title, and Category fields. I'll have about 100 records in this table, and each record will have one of 5 Categories, so obviously there'll be some duplication of the Categories themselves. How do I tell asp to output a page that only displays one instance of each different Category?

I'm really hoping that this makes sense to someone!

Setting your RecordSource to something like

Code:

SELECT [Category] FROM YourTable GROUP BY [Category]

should do the trick, assuming what you're after is just a list of the categories.

Thanks Steven, that's exactly what I wanted to achieve.

My next question is, how do I now hyperlink each Category, so that it will list all the records that belong to it in a new page? I thought I had a method, but it doesn't work :-). Also, I've no idea what the correct names are for any of these procedures - sorry.
