I have a form that works perfectly when opened alone.
I need to make it run as a subform. (Its just a modified version of
the customer phone list form in Northwinds.mdb)
I cant get the reference correct. I've read all I could find and am
completely out of patience. Please explain form/subform referencing.
I need help.

Have you tried using the wizard? Often the most painless way of referencing.
