Updating from no access database
Hi experts!
Having a paradox type Db table linked to A2K2 table how would the
link be updatable? I thought clicking Refresh would work but i was
wrong.
Regards Penta.

See:

The Paradox file must be version 5 or earlier, it must have a unique index, and you must have Jet 4 Service Pack 5 or later (via Windows update) or the Borland Database Engine (BDE) installed.
Hope that helps...

Penta-
There is not SP8 for Access 2002 - but that is the latest service pack for the JET database engine, which is what you need. I don't believe you need a product key to download and install it. JET is a component of Windows now, not Access, so you're updating Windows.

P.S. -
I have posted the above message because i'm not sure of what went wrong.
I'm having error message:"external table is not in expected format" when
trying to link the tbs.
Any suggestion will be welcome.

Then the file must be a Paradox 7 or 8 file, and neither is supported by Access. You need to find an ODBC driver for this type of file and link it as an "SQL" database.

John-
We are talking about two links:
1. My machine(m1) that runs WinXp ;
2. Another machine(m2) that is the server and runs Win98.
In the mean time while i was having problem with m1, i tried to update(Access2002) in
m2 and the link has been OK after downloading SP7 from Microsoft.
M1 comunicate with m2 by an internal net and there in m1 i am having the error
message. Will the explanation match ur above post?

Are you able to open the table now that you have installed JET SP7? Or, are you still having the problem? Or, did the problem start after installing SP7. Your message is not clear.
