Default Conditional formatting quit working in access 2003

I have a database that I have created for my Tech dept. We are also a systme builder. In this database I have a date field that is formatted by conditional formatting. The feild use to go green if the date was in the future, but as soon as the date expired or was after the current date, it would go red. This last week, I just noticed that it quit working. It just stays the default color. I have tried to remove the conditional formatting, and redo it, but nothing works. I have compacted and repaired the database, that doesn't work either. My other backups are doing the same thing.
I created a new database and the conditional formatting is working.

I have another feild that use to auto populate with the date, but that field comes up with #name?

I also was able to hilight part of the feilds and they would be selected in design view, now I have to go around the entire field before the fields are selected for what I want to do to them.

I hope my DB is not fried. it's been 4 years in the making and has a huge amount of data in it.

Everything with the date and time seems to be ok, but the one thing that I have noticed is that when I try to add =Date() to another feild and save I get a message that states "Unknown function 'Date' in validation expression or default value on 'customer information.Date Started' When I click "ok" then I get "Errors where encountered during the save operation.

I have setup these values in the past and they worked like they should. I'ts like something that has to do with automation I think is causing the issue, but I don't know where to look.

Thank you for your help.

Are all the proper libraries referenced when you're looking at VBA code?
