Person747. you are not alone. I have been trying to continue working on a small Access database that has me locked out as well. We use it on three computers. All three have been rebooted. When I try to edit any of the forms, reports, queries or tables I get a message that one of a variety of things is going on and do I want to work in read-only mode. (which of course I don't, because I can't save any of the changes) When I try to compact/repair the database, it gives me the same message as you describe "You attempted to open a database that is already opened exclusively. . . . " and gives the name of the user. The name is always the same as the computer that I am working from.
