Default Access startup error

I’m running Office XP on the Windows XP platform. All of a sudden when I attempt to start Access I get the Windows Installer message “Preparing to install” followed by the error message: “MS Access has encountered a problem and needs to close”.

This begins an endless loop with the same two messages running over and over again.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks!
