Default .NET Data Provider

MSDN Documentation says " .NET Framework Data Provider for SQL Server or .NET Framework Data Provider for OLE DB requires the installation of Microsoft Data Access Components version 2.6 or later"

.NET Framework Data provider for OLE DB uses the existing OLEDB thru COM interop so it needs MDAC on the system but why .NET Framework Data Provider for SQL Server needs installation of MDAC on the system?

Please explain, Thanks
