Default disconn recordset when batchUpdate not supported

I want to work with AS400 data from windows app. For this purpose, I need to fetch recordsets from AS400, and preferably use client side cursor and disconnected recordset. However, IBMDA400 (OLE DB provider for AS400) doesn't support batchUpdate. Does that mean I cannot do disconnected recordsets at all?

Thanks,
