Under SQL Enterprise Manager, look up the name your using for a local server. I had mine set as '(local) (Windows NT)'. Make sure you match this with the 'Server=...' info.

Explained it the other way around.

I meant to say, the 'Server=..." info. should have the same name as the SQL Server you are using.

In the server explorer I hav tried clicking on the Connect to database Icon and in the data link properties I have tried putting the server name and try looking for the WroxJokeShop database and tested the connection andf it works then but otherwise when I compile it doesnt work.

what i have done is downloaded the code from Apress.com and inserted it in my folder and created the databse manually work so as to check whther there are no hiccups but it still doenst work . i have even reinstalled the mssql thing microsoft but it wont work.

U were talking about SQL ENterprise Manager where about is it
