Hi all,

while i am trying to install ajax extensions 1.0 on windows server 2003, i got the following error.

while check the installation log, i found the following

the installation was done by login as administrator.

any idea about the problem?

I've never experienced this problem when using the correct login.

Are you absolutely sure you are logged in as an administrator of the machine you are installing this on (versus a domain administrator that isn't an admin of the box itself)?

Hi planoie,

yes, its the administrator from the system ( user which is created during installation of win 2003) and not any other domain administrator. there is only one administrator on this system and no any other administrator or power users exists.

I am having exacvtly the same issue on a windows 2000 machine. Has anyone got a solution to fix this issue???

you better try this problem in the codeplex ajax control toolkit home (http://www.codeplex.com/AtlasControlToolkit) maybe they have a solution that we don't know???

In case anyone else has a similar problem trying to install the ASP.NET AJAX v1.0 Extension and gets an error in the log stating:

ExecNetFx: Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))
ExecNetFx: You must have administrative credentials to perform this task. Contact your system administrator for assistance.

I resolved the issue with reference to the following link:

I simply copied the system.web.extension.dll and system.web.extension.design.dll onto the server and use the Global Assembly Cache Tool to register the two dlls.

When i published the site all the AJAX Toolkit controls worked perfectly.

I had this same problem on a Windows 2k server, which is what I develop on. I could not get the install to complete, searched the web high and low for any hints that may work.

Finally, out of despiration I did ormistons suggestion, and registered the dlls using GAC Tool. This makes me uneasy because the install does other things as well.

But still in despiration mode, I decided to do the install again, and wonderfully it went through the whole install without error.

So if nothing else works, use the GAC Tool to register the dlls, then run the install again to make sure the rest of the items (registry key, directory, etc.) are installed.
