Default Datagrid render time

In my scenerio, I have to deal thousand of records in web form, where it can update and calculate the total and all the records have to display on one page. No pagination can be apply.
At first, I used datagrid, but the performance is extremely slow, then I switch to use repeater, but the result is same too. Sad :(
I wonder does it anyway can apply to my scenerio? Hope can get some help.

may be the problem is how you capture that data. try to work in a connected mode and use SqlDataReader, SQlCommand objects to retrieve and update the data. hope that makes sense.
