Default HTML Source Compression

When I browsed through www.microsoft.com and tried to imagine the fast load-time, despite some solid controls on the home page. I checked out the html-source of the page, it is all compressed a MB code to KB code.

I tried googling but I get to see only ViewState compression through
GZip and others, but not entire source code.

Can you please let me know about this, if it's a query worth replying.
