Default Master Pages

In asp.net, there is a concept of masterpages.In a masterpage,we have a
aspx file id = foo.

How would you find that foo file id through other pages?

I understand the part about Master Pages, but after that I got lost. What do you mean with "aspx file id = foo"? What are you asking exactly? Can you elaborate?
