Default Search Engine Optimisation

A tricky involved subject I know.
BUT..
Any basic tips for making a web site "search engine friendly"?
For example, someone mentioned to me that the home page of the site I am developing has a load of page state infomation at the beginning of it and that I should organise for it to be at the end -- but he didn't tell me how!

Also, I believe that careful use of key phrases in page titles can be helpful?

Hi Geoff,

Yes, unique and meaningful page titles certainly help, as does repeating that title in the page's URL.

Moving View State to later in the page might help, but maybe you're better off minimizing it to an acceptable level by turning it off for controls that don't need it. To move the field, take a look here: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...e&aq=f&oq=&aqi=

Almost all articles on the first page of results show working code, so you can pick one that matches your writing and programming style.

Finally, take a look at this Wrox book: http://www.wrox.com/WileyCDA/WroxTit...470131470.html

Hope this helps,

Imar
