aspnet, win 7 and hosting thru iss
Hi, I understand you can host your own website using iss and in win 7 so I went about attempting to do this with little luck and could use some help. Configuring the default site or creating your own in iss seems straight forward -
I go right click on sites and "Add Web Site"
I name the site
pick the physical path
pick my IP address
and I even set up a DNS acct as I understand you must have one to point to your registered domain name
I've made sure my router has a virtual server port open for external viewing with the ports matching the iss ports
I enter the host name provided to me by "noip" dns service
yet when I try to browse my site (IE default) thru iss or localhost it says this page cannot be displayed like it doesn't exist or is not finding it -
Can anyone help me here, thank you so much!
- Clay
UPDATE - I've also now tried setting inbound and outbound rules for firewall to allow for selected port (8080 in this case), I also attempt to view it outside my network as I understand viewing within may be an issue all I get is "bad request - invalid hostname" - I try the host name provided to me by no-ip and this redirects to my overarching ip and 8080 port, no luck :(
