Default Php face

On page 115 of Beginning PHP5 there is a line of code

Code:
echo "face='$cookie_font_type' ");
I don't understand the meaning of the word face. I thought it would print out on the html page as "face" but it doesn't.

i feel one bracket is missing otherwise the code should print html face='name of the font'
which will be taken from the $cookie_font_type variable.
