Default control heights not changeable?

I have a bunch of textboxes. Some of them have a height of 255, and others have a height of 285. I want to change the height of the 285's to 255, but it rejects my entry with no explanation given. What gives? Why can't I change the height of some controls?

Default

Some controls (like the combo box for example) limit their minimum size according to the size of the selected font.
