Hi, I am currently trying to create the toolbar in chapter 7 page 231.

In step 4, Locate the Image Property section, I have down loaded the VS2012ImageLibrary.ZIP file from the Microsoft web site and i can not find the 32bitcolor bitmaps or the New_documentsHS.bmp. Has anybody else had this problem, if so how did you fix it?

I've been working thru the same thing - these books tend to inspire me to new heights of profanity. You can download a file called "VS2012 Modern Image Library.zip"

but when you expand it, it doesn't look a whole lot like what's in the book. I suspect the author assumed that VS 2012 installed file structure would look like VS 2010 and didn't bother to fix it with an errata submission after the book was published. One of the problems buying a 1st edition of anything that's a pre-release publication. The book is published before the SW release and they usually don't go back and fix the stuff that's wrong.

Alternatively, you could get the Update 2 Tech Preview at

Just remember that this is not an official release of Update 2. I haven't tried this one yet, but I doubt it will be any different. MS claims to try to make everything in their universe backward compatible, but when it suits them, they don't do it.

Please post if you have any better luck than I did.

What's interesting is that if you run the downloaded code for the book, those icons are there, both in the Forms Designer and when it runs.
They must be somewhere on the local machine, but will take some finding.

I guess by the date of your post that you may have fixed this by now or given up!
I'll get back to you when I find the little varmints.

I just found it all.

It's in VS2010ImageLibrary which is archived, but MS won't let you have it.
