I was wondering why i cannot get logged in to the Wrox blog. It works just fine unless you want to post a new article. The credentials you have left in the book are not working. Administrator / Admin123#

I have added roles, new users but still nothing happens. I just get that error message: Your login attempt was not successful. Please try again.

Any suggestion?

I am using SQL Server 2005 express and Yes i have read the errata for the chapter six. I tried with the other password but it doesn't work as well.

Problem sorted out. The database files were read-only. I changed the permissions and now it works like a charm. Thanks for your time.

Hmmm ... now i am faced with a bit different problem.
Namely when i transfered the blog to shared hosting environment the authentication stoped to work properly.
Whenever i log in as an Administrator i cannot see the Add new entry button as well as the edit entry link.
I am logged and it seems alright but, i cannot edit, add ..

The hosting is godaddy.com and it's full SQL server 2k5 so i thought maybe there is a known issue with this hosting.

Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Imar thanks for the time you spent to help people like me.

I've read the thread you recommended to me and i came with something that could be possible causer but i am not pretty sure how to fix that.

As for now there are two paths into the aspnet_Applications table.

And i believe that there is the thing i am missing.

when i get logged on the shared hosting from www.domain.com/Login.aspx i am redirected to something like this: www.domain.com/DOMAIN/Default.aspx altrough it should be www.domain.com/Default.aspx

What do you suggest? That i add /Domain in the applications table?

I will try in meantime and let you know if it works for me.
