Default Chat Server: Login failed.

Hi,

I have just installed the chat server locally, however, I am getting the following error:

Cannot open user default database. Login failed.
Source of error is line 112 in dal\chatroomdb.vb

Any ideas?

I haven't changed anything except paste files into a new virtual directory, and called it. Normal pages (about, etc) work fine.

Cheers

Hi there,

Check out the installation instructions for chapter 5 (at the end of that chapter). It shows you what to configure to grant the necessary permissions.

Cheers,

Imar

Thanks Imar.

Still getting the error after following the instructions. I may just add a new sql login to the db and connect using a full connection containing username and password.

Cheers

Strange. Did you change the connection string? To what folder and account did you grant what permissions?

If you go the route of adding a new SQL login you may find the following useful:
