I have read everybody's comments concerning this problem (I think), and I have tried all suggestions, but I haven't seen any new posts lately, so I'm trying to get this discussion going again. My Rss webparts work fine (and everything else) on the local development server, on IIS localhost, but not on the remote web host.

Initially the site comes up with a big blank spot in the middle of the home page. Fine...

If I login as Admin, switch to shared scope, and e.g, add the "Latest Articles" web part in catalog view to "center-zone top left", the title appears and the down-arrow appears, but I can't get any article abstracts to appear.

I can view an article abstract in the BrowseArticles page, but it does not appear on home page Rss web part.

I keep thinking I'm overlooking something easy here. Has anyone experienced this problem and solved it, or at least have a clue?

Any comments or help is appreciated...

For now I'm checking the liklihood my identity values were corrupted in the "Importing Existing Data" phase (p531), per the discussion at http://p2p.wrox.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=49086, which I missed earlier, before I started this discussion. There is a workaround included in that discussion I will try.

This is related to the problem I also had and never got a solution other than not having it on my home page. The rss feeds show up properly on the other pages, home page is my only problem.

An exception is thrown in Controls/RssReader.ascx.cs in DoBinding() which I have traced to the statement:

feed.Load(GetFullUrl(this.RssUrl));

GetFullUrl is equal to "http://www.jgkarate.ewdtestsite.com/GetArticlesRss.aspx"

The exception displayed at the top of Default.aspx:
"The remote name could not be resolved: 'www.jgkarate.ewdtestsite.com'"

I changed the catch block as follows:
catch (Exception ex)
         {
             Response.Write(ex.Message + "<br />");
             while (ex.InnerException != null)
             {
                 Response.Write(ex.InnerException.Message + "<br />");
                 ex = ex.InnerException;
             }
             //this.Visible = false;
         }

I haven't figured out what is causing this...
