The BeerHouse MVC
This applies to the Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition:
Open the application as a project NOT a website
A dialogue box will display a message about this type of .dbp project
is not supported etc. ( it seems VWD 2008 does not support database
projects as does the full version of VS 2008 ) just click OK.
You'll see a Database ( unavailable ) folder - you can either delete the folder which eliminates the error dialogue every time you open the project or live with it - the application will still open/run.
As for the admin/admin question. I gave up. However, I was able
to create a new account following these rules - user id was at least
8 characters with a strong password.
Hope this helps.

Hi Guys,
I just wanted to let you know I am still monitoring this thread, however, I am traveling and my laptop does not have any of the TBH code on it. When I return home I will take a look at all the outstanding issues you guys are having and try to address them.

Ebook Version - If So When
Doug,
Any plans for an ebook version of The BeerHouse MVC ?
I think Microsoft will release the MVC RTM by the end of this month.
My project is underway and I'm looking for something earlier than the April / May timeframe.
Thanks

Hi Danny,
Jim (user name jminatel) would be able to answer that question more directly. AFAIK there is nothing in the works as far as a TBH:MVC preview ebook but, again, Jim is really the guy that could answer that.
hth.

We don't have any plans for a preview version of the ebook. But, I've had enough requests for this that I have an idea I'm going to pitch internally and see if it's feasible to make this available. I'll keep you posted.

DannyC and Avraham: I've got a couple questions about making the book chapters available early:
If we were to be able to sell each unpublished chapter through the Wrox Chapters on Demand program (chapters typically sell for $4.99 each), - Do you think you'd be looking to buy just a few chapters to quickly get up to speed or most of the chapters?
- Would your expectation buying these early versions of the chapters be that you'd get the final chapters too as part of the purchase price? The early chapters would have been edited and revised by the authors and are laid out, but wouldn't be through final proofreading
Any answers or thoughts you have to help shape our decision on this would be welcome. Thanks!

Wrox Chapters on Demand for BeerHouse MVC
Jim,
Here are my thoughts.
I'd prefer to buy the entire ebook upfront. I see no benefit in buying
selected chapters at $4.99 each. As you know there are several books in the pipeline. My need is more immediate since a project is already
underway and I can't wait until March or April for a good book.
For example , if the entire ebook was $60.00 , I'd pay that with the
expectation of receiving both the rough cuts and final versions.
I'm reviewing the chapters purely from a developer's perspective.
Does what they're saying make sense and do the code samples
actually work. Part of my job is to mentor other team members in this
different approach to ASP.NET.
Thanks

Hello Danny,
I am the Technical Editor assigned to this book. As far as "make sense" what do you mean? This book is most certainly not a "Beginning MVC" book by any strectch of the imagination so, as such, it doesn't walk you through the typical "this is how you render a Text box to the screen" type of secnario. It does make sense in the fact that each chapter the reader is posed with some sort of problem, lets say creating a shopping cart that interfaces with a payment gateway such as PayPal. From there the Authors layout how you would design an module to solve this problem. So in that regard it makes sense.
Do you have any more specific questions? I will help you the best that I can.
