Default Relevance to 4.1 and 4.2

I am looking to try some android development and I was wondering if this book is still relevant for Android 4.2?

EDIT: ie. is there a big gap in features and writing code in 4.0 compared to 4.1 or 4.2?

I an new at android programming. I bought the book a few days ago and after many hours have not been able to get the first example to work. I have downloaded all the files for 4.0 -14 and no matter what I do nothing is the same.
I am so frustrated with book authors and software developers. By the time a book comes to market the software versions have left it behind.

I really want to learn how to program in Eclipse, but so far purchased 4 books, over $100 and taken two of them back.

I wish there was some kind of an update place where the book version and software version could at least be explained and updated.

Unless someone comes up with a good explanation of why you should be buying this particular book, my recommendation is that you don't. I am finding the gap between Eclipse versions is huge!

This provided some information that should help you get through the first chapter. Unfortunately, you won't be able to follow the code as is; you're going to have to make some adjustments.

Once you understand that references to main.xml should now be activity_main.xml, and the default linear layout has been replaced by the relative layout, it will become a little easier. See this thread and it should get you moving.
