Default Chapter 8 - <Networking> program

Tried the source code again and attempted to run all the variations (Pages 284, 286, 289, and 292) and commenting out whateveris not needed for whichever. Again, nothing works as advertised.

For the first "Try It Out" on page 284, I got to the <Dowload Content> button, hit it, and then nothing happened. For the other three, the program crashed with a "Source not found" error in the Eclipse debugger.

This is with no variations from me regarding the code from the website, mind you. All I am doing is commenting out one procedure block or another.

I am thinking install of the IDE or SDK or emulator again, but I am not enough of an expert to be sure or know what to do to fix it.

Please help. My success in graduate school depends on my getting this stuff to run so I can then start to think about leaning and analyzing the code. So far, all I am getting is MAJOR AGITA just to get these apps to run so that I can give my professor a screenshot proving that I had success in just that!

This is not an error (as such). The program is crashing and the error finally shows up in some main part of the Android code. Eclipse tries to display the code where the error occurred but can't because it does not have the source.

Try setting break points or adding Log.d() statements to see where the program is getting to.

Have you managed to get any of the source code examples to work?
