Default Appendix D and MSDE

I'm trying to work through Appendix D using MSDE as suggested by the book. So far I got up to page 768, but when I try to run the application I get a login failed error at the dbConnection.Open(); command. I double checked all the code to make sure I didn't have any typos and I've trying changing the connection string and account permission settings but haven't had any luck.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

My hunch is that I don't have something configured correctly on my machine.

How did you install and configure the MSDE?

You can use this http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
to set up accounts and give permissions. A very nice tool for the MSDE.

Thanks. That did the trick. I had just done the default install of MSDE and followed the books instructions on setting up the WroxUnited database. I didn't know I needed to set up permissions, nor did I know how. That tool fixed the problem. The error message made me think it had something to do with permissions and not an error in the code, but I couldn't find any way to access permissions.

Hello

I have the same problem, but I'm using MSSQL server. How can I set the permissions so that the data can be viewed?

Thank you
